THANK YOU, BERKELEY!

Despite the deeply painful national news yesterday, here in Berkeley progressive values won across the ballot.

I am deeply humbled by the outpouring of support I’ve received from the neighborhoods of West Berkeley. It will be my honor to serve as your councilwoman, and I’ll do my very best to make sure that your voices are heard at City Hall. I’m looking forward to working together to find solutions to the problems our community is facing, and I’ll need your help. Please don’t hesitate to reach out through my website or on Facebook with your ideas. After I’m sworn in, keep in touch using my Council website at www.ci.berkeley.ca.us.

My deepest thanks go to my amazing team of volunteers and my campaign manager, and to everyone who supported the campaign, from posting on social media, to knocking on doors, to attending rallies and street fairs. We are blessed, I would not be here without your dedication and support.
Now the work begins! Thank you again District 2, I look forward to getting to know you and working with you.

Peace and blessings,

Cheryl Davila

Cheryl DavilaBerkeley City Council District 2

As a candidate for Berkeley City Council I can speak from personal and professional experience about the needs of our community, especially when it comes to the challenges facing tenants, minorities and families.

We have lived in the same rental unit in District 2 for 35 years, raising two children who attended Berkeley schools. We have seen the effects of gentrification as black and brown homeowners and businesses have left our neighborhood, we have experienced the violence of drug dealers in our streets, and we have suffered from the effects of industrial and traffic pollution.

At the same time, I have also worked to support the community and improve conditions in the schools. I worked on local PTAs when our children were in school, and I have served on the city’s Human Welfare and Community Action Commission since 2009.

All of this gives me unusual insight into the needs of our community, especially the residents of District 2 and the large percentage of Berkeley residents who are renters.

In addition, I bring my training and experience as a professional bookkeeper to the table. I have a degree in business economics and graduated with an academic award, Omicron Delta Epsilon, an international honor society in economics. I possess the expertise and firsthand knowledge the community needs. I believe my proficiencies and skills are a winning combination for the position of Berkeley City Council District 2.

I look forward to meeting and greeting you, and hope to secure your vote come November. Thank you for your interest and consideration.

Wishing you peace and blessings,

Cheryl Davila for Berkeley City Council District 2
